TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) – Drunk driving, prostitution, drug abuse and prescribing drugs to friends and family members; these are just some to the allegations against northwest Ohio doctors. Any time the Ohio State Medical Board disciplines a doctor, that information becomes part of the public record.
An examination of these records shows many northwest Ohio doctors have been reprimanded by the board. A Bellevue doctor was accused of giving prescription drugs to family members, a violation of ethics laws. Another lost his license after accusations of substance abuse. A massage therapist from Toledo is no longer practicing after conviction on drug charges and accusation of prostitution.
One doctor, though, stood out from the rest. Dr. Mohammad Adas of Perrysburg has a long list of convictions, but is again practicing medicine in Toledo.

BOWLING GREEN — Six people — including two Toledoans — were charged Thursday during an undercover prostitution sting, authorities said.
The sting, done with both the Wood County Sheriff’s Office and Bowling Green police, was done at a motel in Bowling Green.
Charged were: Marcus J. Ashford, of Toledo, complicity to attempted soliciting; Yolanda Chambers, of Maumee, soliciting; Timmy Farrow, of Memphis, soliciting; Michael L. Noble, of Wayne, Ohio, soliciting; Marisa C. Pirtle, of Toledo, attempted soliciting; and Robert D. Richards, of Waynesfield, Ohio, soliciting.
All have upcoming arraignment dates in Bowling Green Municipal Court.

Man pleads guilty to forcing woman to work as prostitute

A Toledo-based pimp who was apprehended in Tipp City while holding a woman against her will for purposes of sex trafficking pleaded guilty on Monday to two felony charges.
Rodney Brown, 33, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio to being a felon in possession of a firearm and violating the Mann Act, a law used to combat forced prostitution, said Mike Tobin, spokesman for the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio.
Brown, who will be sentenced in May, faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.
Last April, Brown was arrested by Tipp City police following a traffic stop on Interstate 75. Police found that Brown was holding 20-year-old Michigan resident Selma Hasanovic against her will and was taking her to Indianapolis to force her to have sex with strangers for money.

The three others who gave Walker $250,000 each during one week this month were Missouri residents David C. Humphreys and his sister Sarah Atkins, both of Tamko Building Products, and Stanley M. Herzog of Herzog Contracting.
Members of the Humphreys family are some of the largest Republican donors in Missouri.
David Humphreys, who contributed $125,000 last year to the expected gubernatorial campaign of Missouri’s Republican Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder, made news last fall by asking for his money back after Kinder admitted he frequented an Illinois strip club while he was a state senator in the 1990s. Kinder did not return the money but ultimately decided against running for governor.

NORTH TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) – Two new strip clubs could be coming to north Toledo, despite some residents’ concerns. The city of Toledo has received two applications for adult-oriented businesses in the area.
At least one of the locations has the same investors as Platinum Showgirls, a strip club that burned down back in August. The club was destroyed and is no longer usable.
Platinum Kisses may move in front of the NorthTowne Mall in a building on the corner of Detroit and Alexis that used to be a restaurant.
Another strip club could be going in at the former Jed’s BBQ and Headliners.
Toledo City Councilwoman Lindsay Webb said the two businesses are complying with zoning laws and since adult-oriented businesses are protected by the Constitution, there is nothing council can do to regulate them.

Webb explained she is always concerned about the NorthTowne Mall property. She worries a strip club in the parking lot could drive away shoppers.

Gun violence in metropolitan Toledo is out of control. But solutions are highly complicated and will take years to implement.
This year, there were more than 120 shootings in Toledo between early June and mid-November, despite a police crackdown over the summer that resulted in 891 arrests and 36 gun seizures between June 28 and Sept. 1.
Although the total number of slayings in Toledo isn’t far off from previous years, more have involved guns. The gun-homicide rate in 2011 might surpass the 2007 record of 77 percent.
The problem is not confined to seedy neighborhoods inhabited by drug dealers, prostitutes, pimps, and thieves, nor will it go away on its own. Budgetary crisis or not, city leaders must confront this issue with urgency and resolve.
