A 25-year-old Wales Township man is facing charges of soliciting sex from minors online as the result of an undercover sting, Attorney General Mike Cox announced Wednesday.
Joseph Michael Peraino was arraigned Wednesday in St. Clair County District Court on five counts of using the Internet to commit child sexually absuve activity and three counts of using a computer/Internet to disseminate sexually explicit matter to a minor.
Peraino was arrested this week after police said he made sexual advances toward people posing as 13- and 14-year-old girls in online chatrooms. The people posing as the girls were volunteers from the organization Perverted Justice, according to information from the attorney generals office.
Perainos bond was set at $70,000 and a preliminary examination is scheduled for Dec. 8. He faces up to 20 years in prison.
