ACORN vanished from Toledo before ‘08 vote

The Blade has run a number of wire stories about ACORN, which last year was the focus of a number of stories for its questionable voter-registration tactics. More recently, it came under fire when some ACORN employees were taped allegedly advising a man and woman how to run a house of prostitution.
A number of readers were critical of The Blade for not having investigated the group itself. I asked Ron Royhab, the paper’s vice-president and executive editor, about this, and he said, “We have not conducted an investigation of our own because ACORN does not have a presence in the Toledo area.”
