… Good Hair,” Lions Gate Home Video, 81 minutes, Rated PG-13 for some language including sex and drug references, and brief partial nudity — After his young daughter asks him, “Daddy, how come I don’t have good hair?” Chris Rock sets out to find the answer. Along the way he chats with celebrities – Nia Long, Raven Symone, and the Rev. Al Sharpton – visits laboratories, hairstyling battles and even travels to India in search of an answer. While there are funny moments in the film, there are also others that are quite revealing and even a bit unsettling. Extras include a commentary by Rock and the film’s producer.
“Women in Trouble,” Magnolia Home Entertainment, 98 minutes, Rated R for sexual content including strong dialogue, and for language — This is one of those films that follows a number of different plot lines — all of which turn out to be are interconnected. Our heroines include a porn star, a flight attendant, a psychiatrist, a masseuse, a bartender and a pair of call girls. The storylines work well enough, and the cast includes Carla Gugino, Connie Britton, Josh Brolin and Simon Baker. Extras include deleted scenes and teaser trailers.
