A Toledo woman arrested for engaging in solicitation after a positive HIV test pleaded no contest in Lucas County Common Pleas Court on Wednesday and was found guilty.
Elizabeth Curtis, 27, of 1222 Baker St. faces up to five years in prison when sentenced Jan. 27 by Judge Gary Cook.
Authorities said Curtis was arrested Nov. 17 on Lagrange Street after she approached the parked car of undercover officers and offered sex acts in exchange for money.
She told the officers condoms weren’t needed because she was “clean,” authorities said.
During a subsequent records check and interview, police found Curtis had learned she was HIV positive in March, 2008, when tested at a women’s shelter. She told the detective she works as a prostitute “almost every day” and “often” has sexual intercourse without condoms.
